Pool Resurfacing: What to Expect

Pool Resurfacing: What to Expect

Thank you for choosing The Pool Repair Guy for your pool resurfacing project. We’re committed to delivering exceptional results and want to provide you with a clear understanding of our process.

Preparation Day:

  • Our crew may arrive as early as 8 AM, but be aware that with other workloads and scheduling, it may be later in the day before you see anyone.

  • Expect noise and debris from grinding and chipping tools: we use grinding and chipping power tools to cut and remove some of your old surface.

  • Consider covering or removing nearby furniture before our arrival: If you feel that you need to remove or cover any furniture that is not easily cleaned down with a hose afterwards, please do so before our arrival.

  • At the end of Day 1 your pool will be bond coated and drying up. Please do not enter the pool or allow anything to drop onto the surface. Once it is dry, we will return to install the new plaster.

Plastering Day:

  • We may arrive later if your pool is our second job of the day, but we’ll complete the work as scheduled. Your job may be our second pool of the day, so please do not be surprised to see our crew arrive later in the afternoon. We will still finish on that day and do a beautiful job for you. The process takes around 5 hours, depending on the size of the pool.

  • Our crew will be digging a hole in your yard in an inconspicuous area (normally the weediest area that we can find or along a mulch bed): We’ll create a temporary sump hole for wastewater. We’ll restore the area before departure. If there was grass in the area before, it won’t take too long to grow back. If you have a preferred area, please let our crew know beforehand, otherwise we will pick an area that we feel is the best spot.

    • Once our plastering is complete, we will immediately begin to refill the pool. Please do not allow anyone to enter the pool or stop the water hose from running. It is essential that it fills continuously to avoid developing a ring (or tide mark) on the pool surface.

    Post-Plastering Day:

    • We’ll manage water shut off the following day, unless you prefer to handle it.

    • Our team will initiate the chemical start-up process: Our crews will arrive to add chemicals and begin the startup process. Please do not add or alter anything at all to the pool in the first 7 days without asking us. The startup process is crucial to the longevity of your surface, and we need to be in full control of the pool to ensure that it is completed properly.

    • We will continue to monitor the pool for the first 7 days and will hand it over to you chemically balanced and ready to use. It is then your responsibility to have your regular pool care balance the chemicals every week and take good care of your investment moving forward. If you are unsure, or if you would like them to speak to us, please let us know.

    • Afterward, regular maintenance is your responsibility. We would be delighted to talk to them to ensure that the pool is properly cared for. Everyone on the same team, working to the same end goal (a beautiful pool area for you to enjoy for many years) is what everyone should be striving for.

Surface Appearance: Please note that hand-troweled surfaces may have slight inconsistencies in shade, texture, or aggregate distribution. These are inherent characteristics of cementitious products and hand application, not defects or poor workmanship. We’re committed to your satisfaction and are available to address any questions or concerns throughout the process. Thank you for trusting us with your pool renovation.
